A program to support projects that use agricultural plant residues to create value added projects in the state has been announced by the Tasmanian state government. Source: The Advocate
The wood and fibre processing innovation program was announced by Minister for Forestry Peter Gutwein.
The program offers grants of up to $100,000 to support the development of projects that use forest harvesting and timber processing residues and agricultural plant residues.
This includes using lower grade logs to produce value-added products like engineered wood products, biomass energy or heat production, and other products such as furniture.
A total of up to $1.25 million will be available through the program.
Applications are now open and will close on August 26.
