Wood Innovations 2014 Conference was held in Melbourne on 23 and 24 September at the Bayview Hotel with nine sessions over two days and 23 different speakers and topics.
With so many topics it was not surprising that the organizers were able to cover themes as varied as innovation in the workplace, innovations in hardware supply chains, as well as more traditional innovations topics such as case studies of new treatments and timber use.
Several speakers were from overseas including Mr Gary Converse who is the senior vice president of Osmose in the US who spoke about the issues and also solutions achieved in supplying to the Big Box stores in the US.
Other overseas speakers were from the UK and both spoke on wood treatment and developments.
The two-day event attracted senior managers from most of Australia’s leading timber and wood products industry including those from Forestry Tasmania, Hyne, Koppers, Tilling, Carter Holt Harvey and Wespine.
The event was supplemented with a product display and was well supported by sponsorship from around 22 major companies.
