A French carpenter Michel Robillard has made quite a profit from constructing a Citroen 2CV in wood. Source: Timberbiz
It was reported that he spent around 5000 hours over five years building the car which is pretty much all wood inside and out including wooden seats. The car is functional so the 602cc twin cylinder engine is not wooden, and the wooden body sits on the chassis of a 1969 Dyane. The car is drivable but not able to be registered.
Three different woods were used in its construction; pear, apple and cherry wood.
The car just sold to a 2CV collector for around $337,000.
Mr Robillard is now moving on to his next project a wooden Citroen DS21 Decapotable Chapron, which is a much larger project.
