For the third year in a row, PEFC is sponsoring the Best Use of Certified Timber Prize, it rewards architects and project teams for using certified timber as the main construction material for buildings outstanding in sustainability, innovation, quality or aesthetics.
In two years of running the Prize, 79 amazing projects were entered, 20 were shortlisted and two project teams took home the award.
All shortlisted projects impressively demonstrated the diversity in buildings made of PEFC-certified timber.
For the 2021 Prize, special attention will be given to PEFC project certification.
The entry deadline has moved to Friday 7 May 2021, to allow all projects completed by this date to enter the awards program.
WAF is the world’s largest annual, international, live architectural event, celebrating excellence through live presentations to an audience of delegates and international juries. The event offers delegates networking opportunities, live judging, keynote talks and panel discussion with the festival awards all still on track.
By entering a project for the Best Use of Certified Timber Prize you showcase your work to an audience of influential clients, contractors, and architects, while highlighting the importance of choosing certified timber to help deliver sustainable buildings.
The extensive media coverage of WAF, as well as PEFC, gives global exposure to the shortlisted projects, over a 6-month period. All entries are permanently archived on the World Buildings Directory.
Previous projects have been covered by media channels ranging from CNN, Al Jazeera and the BBC, to The New York Times. All projects entered for any of the ‘Completed Buildings’ award categories are eligible for the Best Use of Certified Timber Prize.
