Xlam has an outline of its plans to expand into Australia to meet the rapidly growing interest in CLT for residential and commercial buildings.
This game changing venture will be strongly supported by architects and engineers who are encouraging more CLT for the design opportunities offered, and providing a carbon positive replacement for concrete or steel construction.
Rob De Brincat, Business Development Manager of XLam Australia: “CLT is the ultimate wood building system for construction, including prefabricated flooring, walls and roofs, all made from natural resources.
“XLam is the only manufacturer of CLT in the Southern Hemisphere and is pleased to announce expansion of our CLT production both in New Zealand and in Australia to meet increasing market demands.”
As an indication of the growing demand for CLT in Australia Barry Young of Taylor Thomson Whitting engineers will be a presenter at Frame 2016.
Mr Young is a specialist in the design of large-scale commercial, residential and public buildings and is currently undertaking the design of two 10 storey CLT residential towers in Sydney which will be the tallest CLT buildings in Australia.
